All three osprey in our study have begun migrating to their wintering territories. Jett left Virginia Beach 9/5, Rice left Hopewell 9/13, and Thurston left 9/17 from Virginia Beach.

Rice continues to make steady progress south and is near Palatka, FL.

Jett

Thurston

Thurston finally left Virginia Beach Tuesday morning following a similar trajectory as Jett. He is the last bird in our study to initiate migration, a full 12 days after the first osprey, Jett, migrated south. Please consider adopting Thurston through our tracking partners at wildlifetracking.org
