Libby here, covering for Reese today. Both eagles from the Norfolk Botanical Gardens continue to explore the Northern Neck of Virginia. “Neck” is another word for peninsula. The Northern Neck is the body of land between the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers.
Note: Red circle indicate the location of the eagle each hour. The white circle is the most recent location. Orange lines connect the red circle and suggest a flight path.
Azalea has concentrated her movements in Northumberland County, VA at the mouth of the Potomac River. This area is where she spent many weeks back in summer 2009 on the Great Wicomico River.
Just upstream on the Potomac River, Camellia has been exploring King George and Westmoreland counties (a side note – Westmoreland Co is the birthplace of George Washington and Robert E Lee). This weekend he flew southwest to Caroline and Hanover counties to a rural area near I-95.

Went on Saturday – but only in Camellia’s area. No juvie sightings. I checked SE of last known, but not far enough south apparently. Searched on the north side of of the Rappahannock (south of 3) roughly looking between 605 and 624 including Dogue and Leedstown. Wish I had gone S on 301 over the bridge.
Azalea is sure staying in a tight zone – slow paced area with lots of water and sky. Good for finding her!
Can’t wait to see next maps.
