Azalea celebrates an anniversary this week. On August 16, 2009, she left home for the first time. She flew south to Tulls Bay in Currituck County, NC and spent two nights there. She returned to Norfolk Botanical Garden on Aug 18 and rested for a couple days. About 10:00am on Aug 21, 2009, Azalea took off flying north and did not stop until about 5:00pm on Dividing Creek on the Northern Peninsula near the small town of Good Luck, VA – can you believe that!! So far her luck and fishing skills have held up. As of yesterday Aug 19, 2010, Azalea has flow 4678 kilometers or about 2,900 miles. She has only returned to Norfolk Botanical Garden once during that time in Feb 2010, even though she has been back to Virginia Beach five times. She has divided her time exploring along the shores of the Potomac and Wicomico Rivers in Northumberland County, VA, a couple landfills on the Middle Peninsula of Virginia, Alligator River and Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuges in North Carolina, and seems to have a particular fondness for the catfish ponds near Plymouth, NC where she has been most of the time since March 2010.
