As the previous blog post notes, Grace arrived at Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge – http://www.fws.gov/refuge/mackay_island/ – yesterday March 8, 2015. Taking a chance that she would still be there today, I went to Mackay Island. With permission from the refuge manager, I located Grace in a closed part of the refuge called Middle Pool. This is the same part of the refuge that Sterling, the female that is dating HK at Honey Bee Golf Course, was rescued in 2006 when her nest fell out of its tree. Grace never allowed me to get close and kept flying further away, but you can see the antenna on the satellite transmitter on her back.
