Grace has expanded the area south of the Charles County landfill in Maryland that she is exploring. She spent the past four days flying back and forth across La Plata Rd (Route 488) west of Bryantown, MD, revisiting the landfill. Grace is not there alone. Maurina Gonzales observed four adult and four other juvenile bald eagles at the landfill when she took her photos on Nov 1 (see previous Grace post). As of this map Grace is south of La Plata Rd – WHITE arrow Nov 5 at 10am.

Terrific news! There really is variety of land use here. Lots of farms, new single family and townhouse developments, the Regency Stadium, a new high school, parks, swamps, small ponds, asphalt and gravel companies… All within 2 mile radius of landfill. There is a lot of dirt moving equipment all west, north west, and south west of the landfill. I think they are leveling the topography, thereby filling in the swamps (in the name of progress!).
I’ll try to go look for her again on Saturday, but Sunday is our fall Conowingo Gathering!! Right Peggy? Thanks Reese!
