April 10, 2012Azalea has visited the Honey Bee Golf Course in Virginia Beach for the first time. Many other bald eagles have been there in the past few months. Azalea has been wandering the past three days. She began her journey at Lake Tecumseh (YELLOW arrow Apr 6 at 7:00am). She stayed on Lake Tucumseh all day Apr 6 and the next night (PINK pointer Apr 7 at 1:00am). She then flew north to First Landing State Park and spent the night (GREEN pointer Apr 8 at 1:00am). On the early afternoon of Apr 8, Azalea flew to the North Landing River behind Rosemont Forest Elem. School, then to the Honey Bee Golf Course where she spent the night right next to the Club House (PURPLE pointer Apr 9 at 1:00am). As of this satellite map Azalea was in the patch of woods on the North Landing River across from Rosemont Forest Elem School – WHITE arrow Apr 7 at 7:00am.
As soon as I realized that Azalea was at Honey Bee Golf Course on the North Landing River this morning, I called Pam Monahan who lives nearby and visits this location often. Azalea was indeed right where the satellite reading showed her to be, and Pam got these GREAT photos. Response – The North Landing River is full of shad. May not be room for catfish.
Great pictures Pam, good job!! I too went to HB, and did see two juvies, but not AZ. It makes me smile to see pictures of AZ and her looking so healthy. I hope she develops a taste for VB shad! Thanks for the post, as always Reese.
