Camellia has travelled a bit all within Va Beach in the past 3 days. He began at Norfolk Botanical Garden Dec 27 at 6:00pm (YELLOW arrow). The next morning he was on Lake Whitehurst off Azalea Garden Rd Dec 28 at 8:00am (PINK pointer). He flew south from there to Carolanne Farms on the Elizabeth River – a familiar place to him – Dec 29 at 1:00am (GREEN pointer). From there he went further south flying to Holland Rd and Princess Anne Rd at 3:00pm Dec 29 (ORANGE pointer) then doing a u-turn to Bow Creek Golf Course, another place he has been before Dec 30 at 1:00am (PURPLE pointer). From there Camellia flew by way of Mount Trashmore, a round-about way, to Great Neck where as of Dec 31 at 1:00am (WHITE arrow) he is at Brown Cove in the back yard of eagle cam viewer Andrea.

Happy New Year Cami! (Reese and Eagle fans, too.)
It does seem that the youngters do come back “near” home at times. Camellia (male) was banded NC in 2010 along with his two siblings. I can’t find their banded ID’s. Has there been any information of either of the two being seen anywhere since then? May be the wrong spot to ask, but Azalea (female) was banded HH, her brother was HK. Was there another eaglet for 2009? See I am trying to learn the history of this terrific nest, since this was my first year. And yes I do know about Buddy for 2008. Wishing all a safe and prosperous, in eagle terms, New Year.
Response – Siblings to NC are ND and NE. There have not been any confirmed sightings of those two, although there was a report of NE being sighted. HE was sighted and photographed earlier this week – go to http://www.norfolkeagles.com and search back through the photos posted under Photographers Nest.
Happy New Year All! As one of Camellia’s grandmothers, I think you are so lucky to have seen him in your backyard.
We look forward to our first visit to the gardens next spring. Perhaps we will see new eagles by then! Stess from Michigan
Happy New Year to everyone.
I usually get skunked but I spotted an adult pair at Poplar Halls Park after I’d given up looking in Caroline Farms. As it was I was turning around to head home. That was quarter to one in the afternoon on the 30th.
On the 31st somewhere around three thirty, a couple of juveniles flew over the house from the direction of Trashmore towards Princess Anne Rd. I lost ’em in the sun. Camellia?
I suspect I’ve run out of eagle spotting luck for 2012. But I’m not gonna quit looking.
Thanks, Reese.
Opps……….. Carolanne not Caroline. Lost my mind for a moment…….
