October 25, 2011Camellia in the past week has spent four nights at Norfolk Botanical Garden -1:00am Oct 21, 22, 23, and 24. On the last satellite map Camellia was off Miller Store Rd east of the Norfolk Airport (Yellow arrow). From there he revisited the eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River, but returned to NBG in the late afternoon and was there at 1:00am Oct 23 (Pink pointer). On Oct 23 he spent the entire day at NBG and again stayed overnight – 1:00am Oct 24 (Purple pointer). Yesterdat Oct 24 Camellia flew over Little Creek Naval Amphib Base then turned south to the eastern branch of the Elizabeth River and roosted overnight (Green pointer). As of this satellite map at 10:00am today Oct 25, Camellia is on the southern branch of the Elizabeth River just west of the locks at Great Bridge in Chesapeake, VA – White arrow. Blue pointer is NBG.

Hi Reese, I was just on 264 going towards 64 (norfolk) @ 11:00am today. I got on at the Lynnhaven exit and just about 1 minute of being on the interestate a juvi eagle (my first that I could probably identify) was flying back and forth over the interstate. Could that have been Camelia? Could only see the underside of him/her.

On October 21 at around 2 pm, I saw 2 juvenile eagles sitting together in the very top of a pine tree on West McGinnis Cir just off the eastern branch of Elizabeth River. They stayed for about 10-15 minutes. I could not get a close enough look with my binnoculars to see if one had an antenna.
