Grace has flown a little bit further south along the Talbot County, MD shore line on Chesapeake Bay to Popular Island (ORANGE and PURPLE) and as of this map at 4pm Oct 18 she is on Coaches Island – WHITE arrow. Getting to these two islands is by boat or as Grace did, by air.

I probably saw a dozen eagles today, but no certain sightings of Grace – lots of pics to go through. Seeing groups of 8 eagles soaring together makes me think concentration area.
A wonderful woman offered her property for me to spot from. It was due east of Poplar Is. and set on a point, a great vantage to see anything flying, but it was SO windy! There was also access at Lowes Wharf, and numerous eagles around there, too. Probably same ones! Interestingly, I met a NOAA guy who was heading over to Poplar Island, to take samples of soil and water there. Apparently, the reason it looks so strange (like gravel excavation?) is, that they are depositing dredge material and basically building/ or adding to this island. They hope to plant appropriate flora (for wildlife habitat) if/ when the soil is adequately toxin free. (Reese, this reminds me of Hog Island where KE was.)
I was so entertained, I didn’t even get down to my alternate location, Blackwater. Saturday’s excursion to Kent Island got me over to the National Wildlife Visitor Center (USFWS) when I abruptly drove back west over the Bridge earlier than intended.
Response – Looks like you had a great eagle day. Next map will tell us if Grace was still on Popular Island while you were there. See article on http://www.CCBBIRDS.org web site about communal roost areas.
Thanks Reese ..beautiful area.. Grace sure loves to travel and see it all..
