Azalea has flown to Fort Story Military Base in Virginia Beach. This is also known as Cape Henry as this is where Captain John Smith and his colonist landed in 1607 – http://www.nps.gov/came/index.htm. Azalea was last in flight YELLOW arrow Jan 30 at 7:00am. She made a right turn and visited the Virginia Beach Sports Complex (rather than a left turn to Honey Bee), then flew to Stumpy Lake for the night PINK pointer Jan 31 at 1:00am. Azalea then returned to Hillcrest for a couple hours Green pointer Jan 31 at noon, before flying to Red Wing Golf Course BLUE pointer Feb 1 at 1:00am. As of this map Azalea has flown north along the Virginia Beach coastline and is at Fort Story WHITE arrow Feb 1 at 5:00pm.
Before Azalea left Hillcrest Bob Mislan captured her photo (copyright) as she launched from a branch.

What a beautiful young eagle she has become…
She is such a beautiful young eagle. I have worried over her since she fledged.
Mom would be sooo proud! Thanks for the beautiful picture Bob!
AZ seems to be living a good life, we certainly know she is eating a varied diet!.
Thanks Reese, it’s so exciting to be able to follow her. I look forward to each Map Day.
Reese – given that brother HK is setting up a nest, would it be possible that Azalea would look for a mate this year? Or, given that sexual maturity isn’t reached until 5, will she probably not be interested until this next fall?
Response – At this point of the breeding season it appears that Azalea still has wanderlust and not ready to settle down.
