Camellia on Lynnhaven River in Va Beach 7/29

It appears that the two juvenile bald eagles born at the Saw Pen Point nest in Virginia Beach have dispersed from their natal area. They fledged about June 1st. I have been there to check a few times recently. This morning, July 30, was the second time I have seen only one of the adults, pictured above, sitting it its favorite perch tree off Cheswick Lane across from its nest.
The map I posted this morning of Camellia on http://eagletrak.blogs.wm.edu shows that he was perched in this same tree on July 28 at 6:00am. No sighting of Camellia this morning, however.

Thanks for the update Reese, it’s amazing that such large birds choose such small branches to sit on.
Beautiful looking eagle. Throw in a blue sky and you’d have a postcard calibre photo there 🙂
