The Yellow arrow marks where Camellia was at 7:00pm Oct 15. He stayed in the Great Neck/Little Neck area on the eastern branch of the Lynnhaven River all day Oct 16 and 17. At 1:00am Oct 18 (Pink pointer) he was in the Little Haven neighborhood in Little Neck. About 9:00am Camellia left there flying west over Pembroke/Independence to the Little Creek Reservoir at noon Oct 18 (Green pointer) at which location he was only one mile from Norfolk Botanical Garden (Blue pointer). From Little Creek Reservoir he flew to Lake Taylor just off I-64 on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan College and was there at 1:00am this morning Oct 19 (White arrow). Click maps to enlarge

Love the reports on Azalea and Camelia! It looks like the fishing is good in the rivers and inlets in the Norfolk/Va. Beach area. Do you have any thoughts as to where the NGB eagles go to get their prey? Would they stay close to the Gardens, or fish miles away?
Response – The NBG eagles do most of their foraging close to home in Lake Whitehurst. They probably also fish in a couple smaller lakes nearby and in Chesapeake Bay. Staying close to their home territory is important in order to chase off any other eagles that may be searching for a place to nest.
Looks like he flew over /close to my house AGAIN!!! My neck hurts from looking up! Thanks, Reese.
