Grace did not stay long this time at the catfish farm. We don’t know just when she left because her transmitter did not send data for about 30 hours. Grace made a stopover at Phelps Lake in Pettigrew State Park (PINK) then sometime on Jan 9 flew east into Tyrrell County, NC and as of this map is just south of NC Route 64 – WHITE arrow Jan 9 at 8:00pm.

I would think the shallow’s are frozen ..she has to look else where for food..warmer with more sunshine please..Reese ..a good number of eagles have eggs early this year..any thoughts on this? The one’s down south have eaglets already..this seems early for them as well..Thank you
Response – Hi Pat – Normal schedule for eagles in this mid-Atlantic region to begin laying their eggs. Eagles and Great Horned Owls take a longer period of time to incubate their eggs and raise their chicks to fledgling age, therefore, they get an earlier start than other bird species. The result is that their young are foraging for food when their prey base is at its peak making survival more likely.
