On May 22, 2012 Libby Mojica, wildlife biologist with The Center for Conservation Biology (CCB), fitted a cell technology transmitter on a juvenile bald eagle in its nest in the Saw Pen Point area of Virginia Beach. The eaglet was also fitted with purple band KE and USGS band # 0679-01375. A second eaglet was in the nest but not banded.

The transmittered eagle fledged from its nest on June 14, 2012. The attached map is as of June 17 at 5:00pm (WHITE arrow) where  KE was in a tree on Cheswick Lane. The PINK pointer shows the location in a tree on Cheswick Lane where she was at 12 noon June 17, and where she was today, June 19, about 11:00am when I took her photo. The map shows the Thurston Branch of the Lynnhaven River and that KE has already begun to wonder from her nest area having flown over the Thalia Point neighborhood.
