Azalea began this period on the Nansemond River in Suffolk, VA (YELLOW arrow May 12 at 6:00am). From there she flew across the mouth of the James River to Newport News and then to Harwood’s Mill Reservoir in Newport News Park for the night (PINK pointer May 13 at 1:00am). She has been here many times in the past. On May 13 she spent most of the day at Big Bethel Reservoir – another place she knows well – then flew to Back River in Hampton (GREEN pointer May 14 at 1:00am). Azalea then spent all day May 14 in the Langley View neighborhood and stayed overnight in Gosnolds Hope Park (PURPLE pointer May 15 at 1:00am). As of this map she is at Willoughby Point at Langley Air Force Base WHITE arrow May 15 at 10:00am.

She could have let me know that she’d be in my neighborhood! My backyard bald eagles perch in a tree on the Southwest Branch of the Back River. I’ll keep an eye out for her!
Maybe Azalea is on her way north to Northumberland county, to visit with NX when she is released there on Wednesday : )
Hope she’s on her way up to retrieve her long lost sister NX!!
