Camellia has been a challenge to keep up the past three days. He started out on Lake Whitehurst (YELLOW arrow Feb 24 at 1:00am). He first flew southeast to Diamond Lake Estates, then back north to the east side of Lake Whitehurst near the north end of the Norfolk Airport runway. From there he flew to Norfolk Botanical Garden and spent about 3 hours in the late afternoon, then back to Lake Whitehurst on the south side of the entrance road to Norfolk Airport (PINK pointer Feb 25 at 1:00am). On the 25th he flew to Lake Wright and Lake Taylor, then to Lake Bradford for the night (GREEN pointer Feb 26 at 1:00am). On Feb 26 he traveled! Flew from Lake Bradford, west to the Lafayette River, north to Mason Creek, south to the Elizabeth River, east to Kings Grant in Little Neck, further east to Brown’s Cove for the night (PURPLE pointer Feb 27 at 1:00am). This morning at 8:00am he was at Great Neck Lake – WHITE arrow. Click maps to enlarge.

Reese, I think it’s exciting to know where these 2 special eagles travel…especially when they head “back home”. When you have been made aware that they are nearby, like IN the NBG, do you drop everything and go? Or, do you get the information after-the-fact? Having seen our magnificent NBG adults “in person”, the chance to come upon one of their offspring that I watched from birth to fledge is the next incredible thrill I’d love to know!
Response – We receive the data after-the-fact. Sometimes just an hour old but most times several hours. Only rush out the door if in my neighborhood.
Cammie – stay away from that airport runway! I mean it! Look what happened to your mom. Go back to the golf courses – much safer!
Can’t wait for the next update…I saw a juvie fly over Great Neck Rd Feb29 at 5:15…looked like it was coming from First Landing headed toward Little Neck. Hmmm…..
