Do eagles have memory? In 2009 and 2010 Azalea spent time at the Gloucester County Landfill near Adner, VA on US Route 17 and has returned there again. Our last map showed that Azalea was in Norfolk in the Lakewood – Willowwood neighborhoods (Yellow arrow Nov 11 at 2:00pm. At 1:00am Nov 12 she was still there in Cromwell (PINK pointer). On Nov 12 she flew north across Norfolk Harbor to Back River in Hampton (GREEN pointer Nov 13 at 1:00am). From there she continued north crossing the York River into Gloucester County to the county landfill. She is overnighting (as she has done in 2009 and 2010) south of the landfill in Adner Swamp (PURPLE pointer Nov 14 at 1:00am and as of this map Nov 15 at 1:00am). Click maps to enlarge.

Well, I was half right 🙂 I am in Glo Co for a few days, so I looked for her – saw nary a bird flying over the landfill in 1.5 hrs – not even one vulture! Very strange. Will try again tomorrow. Have a great trip!
Response Yep Cary – That was my first thought – You were right about Hampton for one night.
I like the intro, “Do eagles have memory?” Isn’t it memory that brings Azalea back here?
