When we last left Azalea on Feb 5 at mid-night she was near the Wildlife Drive on Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge. She spent all day of Feb 5 in the same area. At about 11:00am Feb 6 she left there and flew across Engelhard, NC then turned north across some NC Game Commission Land and into the most southern part of Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. She spent the night just north of Lost Lake. On the morning of Feb 7 she came south to some private farmland that is west of Rt 264 and north of Engelhard. It appears that at mid-night Feb 8 she was on the very southern edge of the NC Game Commission Lands. This map at 7:00am Feb 8 shows that Azalea is back on the private farmland.

Thank you so very much for your updates on our baby. It is just amazing. She is down on the farm. lol
I so hope a private farmland is ok to be on. If the owners see her, they’ll likely see her transmitter and leave her alone. Is she just looking for a place to live her life? I mean, her parents have been at NBG for a long time, is that what eagles do, find a spot and settle?
Im wishing ms diva does find a good spot,i have been thinking of her alot,watching her folks alot,they are the best parents.mom is something else. thanks for all the information on our girl and her folks,you guys do wonderful work.
She is still near water and hopefully there are plent of “varmints” at the farm for her to keep an eye on.
It’s so fascinating to googlemaps these sites and see where she is. Her latest roost in in the woods right next to a well irrigated fields.
I still like she seems to be choosing areas that might be less risky than the “dump”
