Here are a few photos of the bald eagle pair in their nest this morning Dec 9 as the sun rose. Other photos are being posted on the FaceBook page of Norfolk Botanical Garden – www.nbgs.org
Beautiful pictures. This is so great. Papa has a new wife – it would have been sad if he stayed alone after the tragedy. Hope these two have a bunch of new eaglets we can watch on the webcam. Thank you, thank you for sharing with all us eagle lovers.
These are gorgeous pictures!! Thank you so much.
Are you able to point out any “disguishing features” to tell them apart (other than the female’s larger size, which is evident in some camera angles & not others.) I’m having a really hard time telling them apart!
Thank you Reese – these pictures are phenomenal – actually easy to identify the female and male. Am I correct in assuming if they produce eggs this year it might only be one since she is most likely a first time breeder? I am sooooo looking forward to seeing another bobblehead. Thanks for keeping us connected Reese – you are the best.
Response – Often in the first breeding year or two eagles only produce one or two eggs. But, we will have to wait to see if she can be more productive – it happens.
You were so right – the quality of this camera is just amazing!! Thank you, Mr. McDonald!!!!!
And thank you, Reese, for your many many hours at the controls.
Thanks again Reese. It is so nice to be kept up to date with all your pictures that are posted. I think it helps all of us to move forward as Dad is doing also. Thank you so very much.
Such beautiful and clear photos. Thank you so much for posting them Reese. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this “new” couple. Hoping my second season of nest browsing will be watching a nest of little fuzzy wuzzies, with Dad and new Mom as diligent in their care as last season.
When I zoom on these pics, the resolution is absolutely phenomenal. Tips of feathers, tiny sticks, everything – clear as a bell. Is it my imagination, or are the female’s talons not quite as orange as when she arrived?
Fantastic pictures Reese. So looking forward to the coming season and all the GREAT views we will be getting .!!!! Thanks to ALL of you for your hard work !!
The pics from the new cameras are fantastic. So sharp. They make a beautiful couple. Can’t wait to see the new eaglets. I’m hoping she will have at least two. Fingers are crossed. Thanks so much for posting.
Others have used all the adjectives and words of gratitude for the beauty and thankfulness for the photos. As a non-expert, is the spacing between the females white front neck feather ( white feathers longer on sides and shorter in middle of front neck) something that will disappear with growth or a possible ID difference that we can see?
response – The spacing is temporary. Feathers wear out and are replaced.
Looking forward to sharing a new season with the eagles with my 4th graders! We still miss the Lady, but are so glad dad has found a new mate. Thanks so much for the pics!
