Both the adult eagles were in the nest by 7:10 this morning. The female left twice and returned without sticks then flew without returning. The male went out three times to get sticks then left at 8:10, likely until late this evening. Closeups of the male.
Is the male on the right….the one on the right looks so much bigger?! Can’t really tell, but I know they are a beautiful pair!! Thank you so much, Reese.
Response – Male on right. Female bald eagles are always larger than the male.
Ty for the pictures and updates Reese. Just wonder any guesses on the age of Dad Norfolk’s new Lady? She certainly is a stunner and looks like she can rule the roost.
Response – We believe that this is her first breeding year.
Thank you so much for posting these Mr. Lukei, they are beautiful! Do eagles typically spend this much time in the nest prior to breeding season, or are they being extra “protective” of this nest because they are new to building one together?
Response – Typical behavior for them to take their time rebuilding their nest.
Thanks so much for the beautfil pictures. I am having eagle withdraw. When will the cam be live for us, eaglenation, to watch, do you know? Anxiously awaiting for the new season.
Response – An entirely new HD camera system will be installed and after that it will go live. Be a few more weeks yet.
Very nice circular motion to the nest shape, good for take-offs and landings. So enthralling, so basic and yet, more genuine an existance then humans. No games, no internal conflicts, just life and creating life.
What beautiful pictures. Thank you. Probably a silly question, but in the second and third photo, dad’s appears to have a “line” marking between his beak and the front of his right eye. Is this a trick of the eye (mine) or real?
Response – Not sure I see the “line” you refer to.
Hmmm… I see the line. In the third picture, it’s almost straight up and down. I wonder if it’s something temporary he got on himself or if it’s something we’ll be able to identify him with…
Thank you chris7, happy someone else can see it. I did wonder if it was “food” splash, myself. But noticed female has 2 black dots under left nostril, so was hoping to find ways to distinguish differences besides sizes when only 1 is present.
