As of July 19, 2014 Grace and her sibling sister continue to stick close to home. Satellite data shows that Grace has not wandered more than 1/2 mile from her nest (natal) area. Yesterday morning she sat in a tree close to the nest tree. Later in the morning and again early afternoon she and her sibling were observed and photographed flying. At one point, Grace chased off an Osprey that got too close for comfort. Thanks to Michele Fowler, M. (Pete) Prucha, and Beverly Nettleton for providing these photos.

Thanks for the photos of Grace Shelly, Pete and Bev. Looks like she’s getting in lots of short flights. Will get out there one day but I think I need a passport to leave Pungo. Thanks, for the update, Reese.
Thank you all for the beautiful photo’s. Are the parent’s still bringing food to the nest or are the girl’s hunting on their own?
Pat in NC – “MR” – Grace is quite the whiner and she reminds me of Azalea! She stays close to the nest area but not necessarily at the nest. Typically one adult is nearby. The other siblings don’t hang around the nest area hardly at all. I haven’t observed any feedings lately but I know the adult is still chasing down ospreys to steal fish!
