The first eagle chick of the season in the nest along the James River in Richmond on which the Center for Conservation Biology has a live bald eagle web cam (www.ustream.com/richmondeagles) hatched on March 16, 2012. A “pip” in the egg was first noticed early in the morning and it took all day for the chick to finally break out of the egg about 7:30pm. Here is a link to a video taken throughout the days of the various stages of the egg “breakout” – http://youtu.be/2j1tL5yTLM4
