Azalea has returned once again to Virginia Beach. She left the catfish ponds and Tidewater Research Station about 4:00pm July 28 crossing the Albemarle Sound and flew to the Perquimans River near New Hope, NC and spent the night there. About noon on July 29 Azalea continued her journey northward crossing back into Virginia about 3:00pm and flew directly to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge about 1/2 mile south of Sandbridge Rd. There is an active Bald Eagle nest close to the spot we find her at 6:00pm July 29 – white arrow. Click Map to enlarge.

Morning Reese
She heard about the “Rock Stars” and coming back to make you remember who is REALLY the Rock Star 🙂 I hope you get to see her again. Thanks so much for all the good work letting us know where she is. I am hoping in a few years that she will continue the Legacy of Mom with many little Divas of her own. Praying her transmitter lasts long enough for us to know if we have “Grand Divas”. That would be awesome. Thank you
Dixie
Hi Reese, (eagle whisperer!), It is sooo good to hear from you! I miss your comments! AZ will always be Az, she is the eldest communicator from the NBG nest. Soooo, wonderful to trak her, and Cam, and see what their patterns are. It will be interesting to see if the NBG , ‘rock stars’ , will return to NBG. Or will they adopt the ‘plantation’ . as their home base. Thank You Reese!!!!
Reese– thank you so much for these updates. Now that the drama of this year’s eagle brood has died down, you help us all to regain our perspective of the longterm excitement of eagletracking. Thanks for hanging in there with all of us, and helping us regain our footing on a steady course! <3
Thank you and Dixie Joyce and Merri for your comments. It would be so wonderful if they did come back to the gardens and stayed. I so enjoy your updates Reese.
Reese, as always, thank you so much for the updates. This is what it is all about. Looking forward to more in the future.
