Azalea did not stay on Big Bethel Reservoir very long. She left there at 1:00pm May 19 flying south and at 2:00pm was directly over Norfolk Botanical Garden on her way to Lake Christine at Camp Pendleton State Military Reservation in Virginia Beach. She has been here before a few weeks ago. From there she made a visit to Red Wing Golf Course on May 20. She then flew a bit further south to the north end of Back Bay off Stuart Road and was there at 6:00am today May 21 – white data point.
It appears that Azalea and Camellia spent last night together or very close to each other last night.

Hi Reese, I check this site for your tracking data almost evey day. Don’t make a responce very often though. I want you to know how much I apprectiate your hard work in posting the data.
I live on the Elizabeth River, within a stone’s throw of Van Luik and the MacDonald area. Been here since 1958 and never, ever, imagined that I would see a Bald Eagle! Up until a few weeks ago, I was seeing many sub-adults, and occasionally an adult eagle. Guess whatever fish they were eating here have moved on—-
I was so sad when CCB was deemed not qualified for the Chase contest! I have been working hard to drum up votes for WCV. I have mixed feelings about votes for NBG–I do not believe that ANY raptor should nest in such close proximity to an airport.
Thanks So Much, Lynne
Response – The eagles made the decision to build their nest (nests) at NBG. NBG did nothing to invite the eagles to build there, and it would have been illegal for NBG to attempt to keep them away.
