Azalea will wake up this Valentine’s Sunday at the “roost” in Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge where she sleep almost every night in January. A general location map is at www.wildlifetracking.org/index.shtml?tag_id=83736
Sue – Young bald eagles wander widely and Azalea has another 4 years or so before she settles down and establishes her own territory with a mate. She may come and go from Alligator River NWR many times during that time. That is for us just part of the excitement. Where will her travels take her?
How exciting for us now, but this satalite won’t last for the 5 yrs it will take for her to establish a home and mate. Or, will it? “IF” she still has the devise on, won’t that interfer with her mating process??
Patti – The transmitter is designed to last 3 years. CCB has transmitters on several breeding females and the transmitters do not interfere with mating.
