This satellite map covers a wide time range through the early morning August 24 so that you can see better how Azalea (HH) has wandered first to the south, and then farther to the north. At 10:00am Friday August 21she left Norfolk Botanical Garden flying to the Norview section of Norfolk, then turned south to the Stumpy Lake area of Virginia Beach at noon, then back north to NBG at 1:00pm (where Joe Foreman saw her flying with 2 osprey), from there she took off north and by 2:00pm was over the East Pembroke area of Hampton, by 3:00pm she was over the mouth of the York River still flying north, at 4:00pm near White Stone on the Upper Peninsula of Virginia, and finally about 5:00pm came to rest on a creek near Good Luck, Va (can you believe that!!!) where she spent Friday night. She left Good Luck about 12:00 noon Saturday August 22 and flew north over Kilmarnock, Wicomico Church and Burgess to a patch of woods on the Little Wicomico River between Edwardsville and Ophelia, Virginia. She spent the nights of August 22, 23, 24 in that small area that is just a couple miles from the mouth of the Potomac River.

That is really cool. She knows or is close to an area where eagles hangout.
i note the telemetry shows she’s been static for 3 days, is there finer telemetry that shows movement in what we see as a small dot?
ray – For the three days Aug 22, 23, 24 Azalea has moved within a very small area of less than a half-mile. Our next map should show if she has expanded her range on the Little Wicomico River or moved on.
Thank you so much, Reese, for keeping all of us up-to-date regarding Azalea. I am fascinated and I love learning about these magnificent animals. I’m wondering if Azalea is following her parent(s) and still begging for food or is she hunting for her food.

Your update has brought many great relief that Azalea is doing fine and in locating her on her journeys northward. Thanks for keeping us well informed with your detailed maps and descriptions.
Reese– Again, I extend to you my thanks and gratitude for enabling us to be a part of Azalea’s journey and her welfare. Is it possible to know when her parents will resume nest-building? My husband and I will be visiting the NBG late Oct.-early Nov. and it would be a blessing to “meet” them, and you! :0)

I would like to thank you for all of your information on Azalea and eagles in general. It is so nice to know that she is on her way. I also wanted to let you know that I purchased a calendar from the Wildlife Center and it is wonderful! How nice to see pictures of “our” eagles and also support a wonderful place at the same time. My thanks to all who made it possible.
I can hardly wait to get up dates on our Azalea…Are any Eagles being seen at or around the area of the nest site? How is Hope ? Sad 08 Eagle can’t fly free…Very glad he is in such good care…living next to Golden Eagle and Red Tail Hawk is not so bad..
